Q: How much is tuition at a Horizons school?
A: There is no cost to attend a Horizons school. Horizons schools are Charter schools meaning that the state of Arizona provides the funding for the schools, much like traditional district schools. The only exception is our private preschool located at Montage Academy in North Scottsdale. Q: What grades do you
serve?
A: Back To Basics serves students in Kindergarten through 8th grade. Peoria Horizons serves students in Kindergarten through 8th grade. Montage Academy serves students in Kindergarten through 4th grade. All of our schools offer a full day Kindergarten Program. Q: What time does
school start?
A: School starts promptly at 8:00am. It is very important to your child's education that they are at school on time. It is crucial that your child participate in the daily activities planned at the beginning of each day. Q: What time does
school end?
A: Back To Basics and Montage Academy end at 3:00pm. Peoria Horizons ends at 2:30pm. Q: What time can I
drop my children off at school?
A: School opens at 7:30am each morning. Q: Does my child need
to bring his/her own lunch?
A: Horizons schools do offer a hot lunch for a monthly cost. When you enroll at school, you will decide whether to bring or buy lunch for the whole year. Hot lunch costs $50 per month unless your family qualifies for Free or Reduced Lunch according to federal guidelines. Q: Are students
required to wear uniforms?
A: Uniforms are not required at our schools. We simply ask that students dress appropriately for a learning environment. Some examples of clothes that should not be worn are spaghetti straps and other revealing clothes, pants that will not stay on the hips, and shirts with inappropriate language or images. All students participate in PE daily so they should come dressed appropriately, including shoes. Q: When are
parent/teacher conferences?
A: Parents will be able to sign up for conferences at the sign-in tables the week prior to conference weeks in October and February. It is crucial to your child's education to participate in parent/teacher conferences and is a required part of the Horizons experience. Q: If my child is going to be absent, do I need to call the school?
A: Yes, by law parents must notify the school of all student absences. Parents must call the school by 10:30am. If you get the voicemail, please leave a message with the child's name, teacher name AND the reason why the students is absent. We also ask that you complete an Absence Explanation Form the next morning at Check-In explaining the student's absence. If your child was in a doctor's care for an illness, please bring a note from the doctor as well. Q: What paperwork is
required for my child to enroll at a Horizons school?
A: 1) Birth Certificate 2) Immunization or Shot Record 3) Withdrawal Slip from the previous school Q: Is transportation provided? A: No, Horizons does not provide bussing to and from home. However, Montage and Peoria Horizons have after-school care on-site and Back to Basics provides transportation to two Boys & Girls Clubs in the afternoon. |
