We are non-graded, meaning students are not grouped by 1st, 2nd or 3rd grade. Each student is tested for skill mastery, and then placed in an “Academic Grouping” that will best suit their individual needs. Mastery means 100%. Every skill must be demonstrated at 100% performance level before it is marked off on their Qualifications Skill Sheet and the student may advance. (Groupings may vary by subject). This procedure is one of the main reasons why families choose us.

There are no report cards. Instead, each parent receives a detailed, personalized "Time-Line" of their child's skill development broken down over the entire period of enrollment at the school. Parents also see the child's "Lesson Plan" and sign off on progress daily. "Progress Reports" are sent home twice a year, evaluating the needs, and the responsibilities to the group and to the school to which the parents and family initially agreed. The Progress Reports are filled out by the student and forwarded with a "Family Goal Setting Plan" to be returned.

"Student Conferences" are held quarterly, and are run by the students with a staff member's attendance. They take a careful look at what successful steps they've taken, and identify areas within which they would like the combined assitance of staff and their family. Goals are set and re-evaluated each time. Accepting personal responsibility for their learning process is the learning process. We begin this approach right from their Kindergarten beginnings.
